With downloading or converting games being against copyright laws, there seems to be a bit of a illogical situation in which owning a gaming emulator is perfectly legal. The argument here is that it makes no sense to make downloading and converting games illegal when the law has made it legal to own an emulator. The assumption here is that you can only download or convert a game if you own the original version. To battle against the illegal downloading of old games, Nintendo programmers and developers have come out with their own Wii homebrew channel emulator installtion which allows gamers to legally download or purchase compilations of old gaming classics. This version of the wii homebrew channel emulator has been titled the SNES9X and is now being ported to Nintendo Wii consoles.
