What Gifts Mean

I never really took much thought about presents received during a christening until I had my first chikd dedicated. After receiving all the presents and opening them at home it was only then that I truly relaized how important these things were. They weren’t just tokens to show how happy people were for us. it was their way of showing how much they cared about my child as well. The gifts that she could use reminded me of how much people wanted the best for her now; and the gifts that were meant for use in the future told me that they wanted her to have a good life as she grew up. There were also presents which reminded me that many people wished for her to grow in the right path and in the likeness of the Lord. Realizing this I’ve never taken christening gifts lightly and always choose something significant when I have to give one.
